Welcome! Japan Fun Cafe is an art and cultural project rooted in Vancouver’s historic DTES(Downtown East Side) Old Japantown at Powell St in Vancouver, Canada.

Our Mission:

is to evolve traditional Japanese Fun culture & Food (e.g. Kimono robes and Matcha) into accessible, stylish, everyday art forms for the Canadian community.

About Us:

Sakura, the site owner, has named herself as “Okami” (a female leader in Japanese) and a “Cool Japan Artisan” who can bridge the gap between authentic Japanese culture/food and Western daily life. She and her team aim to preserve the quality of Japanese traditions while making them easily accessible, fashionable, and affordably priced.

We achieve this through the following “Cool Japan projects” as of today.

Project 1: Culinary Art: Sharing the genuine taste and preparation of authentic Japanese Matcha straight tea or Matcha lattes.

Project 2: Upcycled Textiles: Redesigning vintage kimono into modern, practical garments.
